CNC band saw operators generally handle the machines manually. Two people should team up when cutting larger pieces to assist one another. When cutting straight, hold the piece firmly near the blade and push it forward horizontally.Operators can slightly lift long materials to ensure the back end remains level with the table. They should control the feed rate appropriately based on the material type and piece size. Pushing, pulling, or striking the saw blade is prohibited. Once the piece moves past the saw by 200 mm, the operator can use their lower hand to pull. As the back end nears 200 mm from the saw teeth, switch hands to finish the cut. Before starting, wait for the blade to reach full speed to avoid motor overload.
If the saw binds, forcefully spread the sawing edge apart to either side. Moving the CNC band saw backward is not recommended to prevent the blade from dropping. Should the blade run or wobble, the operator must stop the machine and inspect the blade, the cut path, any jams, and the wheels. Wait until the blade runs smoothly before continuing the cut. When wood chips and debris block the blade’s path on the table, the operator should clear them with a wooden stick, never with their fingers. To prevent resin and wood chips from sticking to the blade and wheels, increasing friction and resistance, clean them with kerosene during operation.
